Ensuring Consistency in Technical Documentation

A common issue in technical communication, and one that I encounter as a lead technical communicator, is ensuring that documentation remains consistent when being published by single or multiple authors (technical communicators/writers) or with gaps between between timeframes of the same document and/or when publishing multiple documents.

In those scenarios, how do you maintain consistency? This topic describes my suggestions to address and achieve consistency in technical documentation.
